AVIDA’S INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE OF MOTORHOMES AND CARAVANS IN AUSTRALIA
Covid has put a lot of stress on a lot of companies over the past three years and Avida is no exception. However, Avida saw this as an opportunity to try and streamline processes and improve our business as a whole, providing better efficiencies and quality, and overall for a better customer experience.
We run a system through the business where team members from each department are able to suggest improvement ideas on a daily basis. When limited staff were available, we used the time to step back and implement large improvement ideas that have been highlighted in the business.
Avida’s philosophy has always been, if you are not continuing to improve and innovate, you are not growing as a business – Avida continually strives to stay as market leaders.
Not being able to have Dealer teams and Avida team members join us at our manufacturing facility we saw the need to create a whole online learning centre – The Avida Experience Academy – This allows Dealers and our own team members to learn remotely. The system is interactive with videos to watch, scrolling quizzes and lots of information about any given product available right at the learner’s fingertips. Managers are able to keep an eye on their team to ensure that their team are up to date with everything Avida and can assist when they see that a team member requires assistance.
In the last year alone, Avida has spent over $900,000.00 in capital expenditure, mainly on updating CNC machinery, new electrical systems and installing an automated board storage system, called the Cube.
The Cube is a board storage system that automatically feeds the correct materials directly to the CNC machines, programmed by our design team and online ordering system. This enables the CNCs to continuously operate, whilst removing a lot of opportunity for damage, along with making the cutting environment safer for our team members.
With already four Woodtron rapid series CNCs in the Avida cabinetry shop, and with the integration of the automated board storage system, Avida can already see efficient processes and huge time saving in this production process.
In the electrical department a new automated electrical coding and harnessing machine with tester has been introduced. This is driven by our electrical design team and will improve the way our dealers and electricians can identify, trouble shoot and assist customers when working on electrical systems.
At Avida we are continually improving to strive toward World Class with the assistance of our talented team members that daily add improvement ideas for Safety, Quality, Speed, Cost and Talent into the Avida improvement system, and not to forget our Customers and Dealers also have the ability to send their feedback straight to the team through the Avida Experience Hub feedback system.
We look forward to the opportunities that 2023 brings with the further implementation of this technology.
