A PLACE WHERE THE FAMOUS AND INFAMOUS, LOCALS AND TRAVELLERS SHARE STORIES. WHERE THE WELCOME IS WARM AND THE BEER BREWED IN HOUSE. WHERE FINE DINING IS SHARING A FLINDERS FERAL FEAST AND A GLASS OF SHIRAZ. WHERE ENDLESS RED PLAINS DISSOLVE INTO SIENNA SUNSETS. WHERE THE DESTINATION IS AS BIG AS THE JOURNEY.
If you are ever around the Flinders Rangers in South Australia, there is one iconic pub that you don’t want to miss.
Fourth generation Flinders Ranges pastoralist and cattleman Ross Fargher and wife Jane, bought their ‘local’ in 1991. They have created Australia’s quintessential, most awarded outback hotel. Radiating a welcoming, quirky, yet elegant country style, the hotel is an international landmark and destination in remote Parachilna, South Australia.
The couple continue to run both the Prairie Hotel and their Nilpena cattle station, with sons Lachy and Eddie an integral part of the ongoing adventure.
Amazing food for you to devour. Be sure to try the signature ‘Ferral Feast’ for two.
Or why not try
- the feral antipasto (featuring roo pastrami, camel metwurst, emu pate)
- feral mixed grill (roo, emu, camel)
- quandong desserts
- camel burger or an emu burger
- feral pie or sausage roll
And if feral animals isn’t your thing, don’t worry there is other food there that you can feast on, including vegetarian, just call before you go if you have any dietary requirements.
Quench your thirst with one of the brewed beers, brewed on premise or other SA beers or try one of the many South Australian wines on offer
