Marcus Paske – is the Hassall Grove Hitman

Avida interviewed Marcus on his recent charity fight, as we wondered why a 50 year old man would glove up and fight for charity, and this is what he had to say.

Q. Why did you choose to do it?

Marcus saw some videos of the corporate fighter program a fair while ago and always said ‘I would like to give it a go someday’. He had originally planned to do it for his fiftieth birthday but COVID stopped all that. So, when they started running the program again he signed up to loose some weight and challenge himself by taking a step outside his comfort zone.

Corporate fighter is a 12 week, 6 days a week boxing training program culminating in a black tie charity fight night.

As a result of the program and the work Marcus did prior to the training starting he lost 22kgs. Although the training was intense especially after week 7 when you spar 3 times a week, the fight night was one of the best things he has ever done in his life, with an adrenalin rush that lasted for days.

Marcus, highly recommends this venture to anyone wanting a challenge.

Q. Why did you choose the charity Rizeup?

A selection of charities were provided to Marcus to pick from, he chose Rizeup, a charity assisting people going through domestic violence. He chose this one because we mostly hear about the mainstream charities and he had not heard of this one before so he thought he would support this one to help them keep up there good work helping families.

About Rizeup
Rizeup Australia is a community-driven organisation of passionate men and women, dedicated to supporting the many families affected by domestic and family violence.
Whilst we raise awareness through speaking engagements, the victims of Family and Domestic Violence need more than talk. They need practical help – and they need it fast! That’s where RizeUp makes a very real difference. We have created various programs to support and empower the brave families via the specialist domestic and family violence organisations (for security reasons, we do not directly meet the families we support) – from helping to create a new home for victims fleeing a violent household and supporting children in their healing process, to raising much-needed funds for families left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Founded by CEO Nicolle Edwards and joined by an outstanding team of men and women from all walks of life, along with Patrons Shelley Craft, Mia Freedman, Petero Civoniceva, Simone O’Brien and Cameron and Allison Da

Q. How much did you raise?

I sold $7500.00 in ticket sales for the night and $1050.00 in donations. He said, ‘Thank you to all that supported him and his charity’.
